Like You.

Without offending anyone, I am more like you than I knew, I suppose. I have enough knowledge of the bible to understand that it is factual. Perhaps it is because I have read it for so long and actually replaced some church or other with my reading of the bible. Having said this, I will also add that others know far more about the bible than I do. Then again, I took science in college, not, religion.

After college and, thus, after combat in Vietnam I got rather shaky with my morality. It took me a few decades to right my ship though. This is when I began, once again, studying the bible and asking forgiveness for my obvious transgressions. I am not perfect nor can I be perfect as I am human. This is why I read the scriptures.

Reading the bible will tell you how you should act, how you should work, and how you should care for others. More, it tells you that yours and my time for this world of ours is short. Long in our measure of time but short in God’s time sense. I listen to God before mankind and we are all short-timers on this planet. In Navy parlance a short-timer is one whose enlistment is getting close to finished. The same can be said for human longevity.

It is because we don’t have a lot of time to make up our minds that I am writing this blog. We think we have a lot of time when young but God’s time is in epochs and ours is in hours. Minutes for some of us. Too late for yet more who obey nothing or the devil, which is the same as nothing. What we are given time for is to get to know God. I don’t blithely write this I write this as it is one thing I have taken from the bible. If we had longer than two hundred years to be viable individuals we would have done away with ourselves eons ago. There is so much more to life than whiskey and partying. And that, “much more,” shadows on eternity. Just one consideration to mull over.
