Self

The foremost warning I take from the bible is to guard oneself against oneself. In other words, take care not to allow one’s head to swell when you’ve got a handle on one thing or another. As is stated here, by those far smarter than I, this is a vexation to one’s spirit. Ask Job if you don’t believe me or King David or any other “name” in the bible. Each will tell you the same thing which is why their verbiage is included in the bible.

The bible is not written by the mind of man it is written by the mind of God using men to pen what He wants us to know, and, get through our stiff spines and thicker heads. Were the bible written in stone, as were the Ten commandments, we would have to travel by airplane, car and bus to have any idea that God left us His word to read and understand. As it is, the bible is the most read book in world history. Hmm?

It was the “self” that I finally overcame but not in the sense of putting myself aside. We can’t do that as we have certain items we need to care about to stay alive or all is naught. I had to put aside my ego and what I thought I knew of the world and politics and just about every controversial item on this world’s menu of things too worry about. That took a long, long time to get around but the trip was more than worth it. I ended up here on the, “World Wide Web,” with the mindset to understand my limitations and to be cautious beyond belief in the way I write of God and the bible.

I was once a “wild child” of unsavory habits and rather weird thought processes. Prayer is what finally brought me around and that in God’s time, not my own. It was prayer that brought me here and here is the last place I thought I would be years ago. More like the city morgue is where I was aiming, at the time.

Nothing I say here is driven by “self.” I now know better but I had to experience combat and family problems that I had to force myself out of and that took quite a while. A few decades at least. That is how I know that God works in His own time, not ours. Yet another lesson learned before it was too late.
